Bemoan and the Afterglow of going International
This month Bemoan screened at the Athens Porn Film Festival!! I’ve been sitting with that for a while now. My work has made its way to Athens. My face, my editing, my body of art is traveling further than I imagined when we first shot this film.
When Bella Vendetta, Vesper Vail, and I had the idea for this project I knew we were making something raw and powerful. This type of experimental work is unappreciated by many but like a sermon to those you need it. We had our audience but the thought of it resonating to the Queer community halfway around the world wasn’t something I had even considered.
I never doubted this project's future success. The previous year Bella and I co-created “Wine Dad”. We had a lot of fun filming and it made it into a film festival. Bemoan is twice as long, featured another model, and had a custom track by Thea Divine (another trans artist), it was guaranteed to have at least one official screening. We applied for everything we could and on a whim I went for something international. AthenPPF was the first one we got accepted into!
I am overwhelmed with pride, it truly feels surreal. My career has spanned livestream stages, double Domme shows, indie video work, and erotic performance art—but stepping into the space of an international film festival is something else entirely. To be seen as a serious model, as an experimental artist, on this level is affirming in a way that I haven’t felt before.
