I've always loved the way that women reinvent masculinity. There's a unique power held by a woman wearing a suit. When I first started my transition, I did everything that I could to distance myself from any bit of masculinity, even the aspects that I liked.
I was denying myself the full scope of my identity because I was afraid to be seen as androgynous, rather than exploring gender expression within the feminine spectrum. At the same time, leaning exclusively into becoming the most femme version of myself also felt like I was alienated from an important piece of myself.
Getting called Daddy is a celebration of having arrived at a point in my transition where I no longer feel dysphoric expressing all of the complexity of who I am.
